Fitbit Premium alternative

Free sleep and recovery views for your Fitbit.

Baro is a free app for iPhone and Android. It reads your Fitbit or Pixel Watch data from Google Health and shows your sleep, readiness, strain and trends. It is not a replacement for Google Health Premium. There is no coach and no workout library.

Premium today

Fitbit Premium is now Google Health Premium.

Google renamed it on May 19, 2026, when the Fitbit app became the Google Health app. Google lists Premium from $9.99 a month in the US.

Its main feature is Google Health Coach, an AI coach built with Gemini. Premium also has fitness plans, a workout library and mindfulness sessions.

Google's own Readiness, Sleep score and sleep stages are Base features. Google's Premium page describes Base as "Included in the Google Health app when paired with watch or tracker."

From Google's Premium page and help center, checked October 8, 2026. Prices and plans can change.

What you get

What Baro shows, for free.

  • SleepHours slept against the sleep you need. Your need comes from your usual sleep, your recent strain and any sleep debt. Stages, consistency and efficiency are shown too.
  • ReadinessHow recovered you are today, mostly from last night's HRV against up to 60 earlier nights with HRV. Resting heart rate and short sleep adjust it. It needs HRV from last night and at least 14 earlier nights with HRV.
  • StrainHow hard the day was on your heart, from 0 to 100. A suggested range for the day is based on your recent strain and today's readiness.
  • TrendsEach score over a week, a month or six months.

Readiness and Sleep show what shaped them, so you can see why a number moved. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no locked metric.

Honest gaps

What Premium has that Baro doesn't.

  • An AI coach.Google Health Coach answers questions and gives advice. Baro has no coach and no chat.
  • Workout plans and a workout library.Premium builds weekly fitness plans and has workouts led by trainers. Baro doesn't build workout plans or have a workout library.
  • Mindfulness sessions.Premium has guided meditation and breathing sessions. Baro doesn't.
  • Medical record summaries.Premium can summarize your medical records. Baro doesn't read medical records.
  • Google's own scores.Google's Readiness and Sleep score stay in the Google Health app. Baro shows its own scores instead.

If you want a coach or guided workouts, Premium is the better pick. If you want a clear look at your sleep, readiness and strain without paying, try Baro.
